Last year a crane accident in Poland sadly caused one death and significant damage, including the destruction of the crane.

The incident happened in Łódź while the crane was being erected (by the conventional method), when the crane collapsed because of the operator’s lack of experience. The operator was thrown from the cab onto the road and died in hospital from his injuries.
The Wolff WK-91 crane fell onto a nearby building and onto several cars parked around the site. Fortunately there was no traffic on the street, which limited the scale of the accident.
An important detail is that the operator had no experience: it was his first job of this kind.
That is one more serious reason to call on professionals for crane erection and dismantling, and to carefully assess and test the staff who will operate such machines.
